Due to recent upgrades to our service and additions to our valuation staff, we will now charge $4.99 for each appraisal.
What is MyThings Valuation?
MyThings Valuation is a place to get value estimates on things you own. These appraisals are for your personal guidance only and are not intended to be used for insurance, financial planning, or any other business-related purposes. All valuations are estimates based on the information you provide. You may realize a greater or lesser value if you sell your item.
How many valuations can I receive?
You can submit as many items as you’d like for valuation.
How do I get an item valued?
You may submit any public item posted within the following categories: Art and Antiques, Collectibles, and Jewelry and Watches. (Unless you choose to make your item private, it is automatically public—meaning anyone on the site can see it.) Here is the process to follow:
-
Sign in to MyThings and then click on Things I Own.
-
Click on the Add Manually link on the left-hand side of the page.
-
Select the category Art and Antiques, Collectibles, or Jewelry and Watches.
-
Upload 1–3 photos and fill in the form, providing as much information as you can about the item (size, style, where you purchased it, a story about its meaning to you—the more the better!)
-
Click the Add Things I Own link at the bottom of the page once you’ve filled out the form to the best of your ability.
-
Open the item page for your newly added collectible.
-
Click on Submit for Valuation. The information you provided earlier will carry over.
-
Within roughly one week, we will send you an email letting you know we’ve completed your appraisal. It will be available in the valuation section of the site.
How long does it take to get a valuation?
It should take roughly one week to receive a valuation. If you submit multiple items, each will take two working days; however, if you submit more than 10, each valuation will take one week.
Why can’t I get my item valued? What’s wrong?
We only value items posted within the Art and Antiques, Collectibles, and Jewelry & Watches categories. Your item must be public, and it needs to have at least one photo.
Who are the MyThings Valuers?
MyThings Valuers are knowledgeable in the valuation of arts, antiques, collectibles, jewelry, and watches, but do not claim to be experts.
What notifications will I receive when I submit my item for valuation?
After you submit your item, we will send you an email verifying we’ve added it to the valuation queue. When you return to your item page and click on Value, you will see the text Your Item Has Been Submitted for Valuation. Once we’ve valued your item, we will send you another email. Your valuation will now be visible on your item page, and on the Valuation page, as well.
How can I become a Valuer?
Valuers must be well-experienced in their field, whether it’s arts and antiques, jewelry, cars, or any other relevant discipline. You must have enough knowledge about a subject to value an item based solely on a photo and description. To get more information, contact Jacob Khokhlov, Lead Valuer, at jk@mythings.com.
