Add and Edit Notes on the iPhone without Rebooting after Each Change
Posted at 10:36, 26/08/2008 by efyefy

A few months back Ecamm Network launched PhoneView, an application iPhone users received enthusiastically:

“You can now add and edit notes without rebooting after each change—wait until you're done and tap "Apply Changes" for a single reboot instead. There's also undo/redo support for the notes editor. There's a new search feature for music, contacts, SMS, etc.

Automatic SMS and Call History archiving is another nice touch. Ecamm tells me that when you roll over 100 calls or 1000 SMS messages on the iPhone, you won't lose that earlier info. (Dimmed icons appear next to each item in the PhoneView list, indicating that the data is no longer on the phone.) Another new feature allows you to view synched photos by photo album.

PhoneView works with the iPod touch and iPhone. The software is Mac-only (Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, iTunes 7.3 or later) and costs $19.95”

Get Cash for Your Old Electronics
Posted at 20:46, 24/07/2008 by LoriDeschene

According to PC Magazine, most UK residents have about £375 of unwanted but usable gadgets lying around their homes. Hopefully you don’t just toss them when you’re done with them since e-waste is a major source of toxins and carcinogens—and as guardian.co.uk points out, much of the e-waste from Western Europe and the US ends up in the ports of West Africa.

How can you be sure your old electronics aren’t causing any harm? It’s simple—sell them to someone else.

UK residents:

Loot.com and Gumtree.com both offer a forum to buy and sell used items.

BuyMyTronics.com buys new, used, and broken electronics from any location in the world. Payment is sent through PayPal within 48 hours of receipt.

US residents:

VenJuvo.com helps you calculate your item’s worth and then buys it from you with two payment options: PayPal or check.

Second Rotation.com purchases mobile phones, gaming consoles, MP3 players, and other gadgets to resell them. You could earn over $150 for one item.

Send Simple, One-Hand Emails from Your iPhone
Posted at 22:50, 18/07/2008 by LoriDeschene
Lifehacker’s featured iPhone download of the day is sure to make frequent emailers happy!
“Free application QuickSend creates and sends simple emails in a flash through a one-hand-friendly interface. When you fire up the app, you get two scrollable sections: the first with email addresses of your contacts and the second with messages. Line up the two you want and tap the Email It button. QuickSend launches a new email with the necessary fields auto-populated, and all you have to do is hit send. While it's a great app for one-handed emails, it could use some improvements. First, if you've got a lot of contacts, finding the right address in the unsorted list is a pain. Second, this really seems best suited for an SMS-integrated application, since these are the sorts of messages you want to send when someone isn't necessarily at their computer. Either way it's a good start. QuickSend is freeware, requires an iPhone or iPod touch running 2.0 firmware.”
