What Batteries Should You Use in Your GPS
Posted at 22:31, 18/08/2008 by LoriDeschene
GPS devices have a way of eating batteries, especially if you’re on a road trip. Maximize your batteries by choosing the right ones:
  1. Consider the amount of time you're on the road and how often you use your GPS receiver. The more you use the receiver, the longer-life battery you'll need.
  2. Choose from lithium, NiCad, alkaline or other kinds of batteries. There are several pros and cons for each, so check on the similarities and differences of each type of battery.

  3. Ask other car owners with GPS receivers what kind of batteries they use. Most will know how well a certain kind of GPS battery works, based on their experience.

  4. After deciding on what kind of GPS receiver battery to purchase, price-check at different stores before buying. You can also search online for batteries available online, but buy only from credible online vendors and stay away from off-brands.

  5. If you decide to buy rechargeable alkaline batteries, bear in mind they require a special charger, and factor that into the price.

Install a Cigarette Lighter to Charge Gadgets in the Car
Posted at 18:50, 29/07/2008 by LoriDeschene

If you don’t have a cigarette lighter in your car, the implications are far worse than just clean lungs. That means you won’t be able to charge easily your GPS or other gadgets. According to Associated Content, you can easily install a lighter into your car by salvaging one from an old vehicle or purchasing a new one.

“It is best to buy one that either comes with or is integrated into a mount. If it does have one with it simply find a good spot to put it and attach with screws look on the box for wiring there should be instructions in it, but if there is not read the part of this article under pulling one out of an old car.

If you choose to take one out of an old car, due to lack of money or a wealth of time, here are some tips. First off do not choose a car you plan on using for anything but parts, you will ruin the dash board. Take a tin snips and cut a large circle around it. This will be important to installation it in your new dash. If the dash was made of metal, you can bend it to have a little shelf to screw into the underside of your dashboard. It will then stick out underneath so you can attach your air freshener or whatever.”

Incidentally, if you already have a lighter, you can also purchase a 3-way extension socket—so you have three power applications instead of one—for only £2.

This service is completely free for private use and easy to use. Just register a tracker id, simple as that. Use any client software with you device and start tracking!

How does quoox|TRACKER work?

7 Tips for Buying Consumer Electronics Warranties
Posted at 21:05, 24/07/2008 by LoriDeschene

We want to help you find a warranty that makes sense for you—so here’s a little information from BNET to help you make the choice:

1. Don't feel pressured at the checkout line. If you ask, most stores will give you 30 days to decide.

2. Don't overpay. If three years of coverage costs more than 15% of the item, it's usually not worth it.

3. You now have a choice! You can say "NO" to the retailer and find a better price and service online.

4. Inquire if coverage for accidental damage is available if your item is likely to be dropped or get wet (like a phone, camera or laptop),. Usually an additional fee applies, but often it's well worth it.

5. Know what you're getting. If something happens to the item, what exactly will you receive when?

6. Keep your receipts, in case you ever have a claim.

7. Know you can always transfer it or cancel it and get a pro-rated refund.
