Keep Your Watch Keeping Time
Posted at 09:31, 04/06/2009 by JodyK
If you want to keep your watch keeping time, you need to take care of it.

Of course, not all watches are created equal, and some are more easily discarded than repaired (the cost of repair can be as high as the price of replacement).

But if you have a fine watch (or one of sentimental value), you’ll want to make sure to keep it in good working condition.

That means treating it like any piece of valuable jewellery. Cleaning it regularly, avoiding contact with abrasive surfaces and storing it with care.

Like any other mechanical instrument of value, a watch should be taken in for a “check-up” every few years  to make sure all of the parts are running smoothly. Especially if your watch is water resistant or water proof, when changing the battery, you should go to a licensed dealer.

In terms of everyday use, to make sure your time is always, well, on time, make sure when changing the hour or date to do so during the day (apparently the date mechanism goes into effect between 11 pm and 3 am, so switching the time/date during these hours can potentially wreak havoc on your watch).
