My old clunker is certainly no antique. I somehow know that without having to look up the definition. But what does qualify a car as an antique? Apparently there is no definitive answer here. According to the Classic Car Club of America, an antique is a car that was manufactured anywhere in the world between the years 1925 and 1948. You can check on the organization’s website for a full roster of cars they consider to be classics. Other factors that may determine a car’s status include automatic lubrication systems and engine displacement. Insurance companies often have their own opinion as to what makes a car an antique or classic. If you are looking to buy such an automobile, it is good to inquire with a qualified insurance agent before making the final purchase (you want an agent that deals specifically with classic cars). But beyond definitions, unless you are an antique car dealer, it is most advised to look for a car you personally love and want to drive.
