Protect Silver Pieces with Proper Care
Posted at 08:17, 19/05/2009 by JodyK
The best care for any piece is proper preservation. That is, preventing it from falling into a state of disrepair.

Correct storage is always a good starting point. So is regular, thorough, cleaning. When cleaning, use products appropriate for cleaning silver. Bronze and brass cleansers are far too harsh to be used on silver.

Also, make sure to keep chemicals far away from your silver piece (including all types of lotions and creams).

However, no matter how much you try, your silver pieces will inevitably need some restoration help along the way. That includes polishing, various levels of repair, plating and shining.

If a piece breaks, try to get it fixed as soon as possible, by a professional silver smith (unless you yourself are qualified).
