Break Your Television Addiction
Posted at 10:51, 16/03/2009 by JodyK
I am not embarrassed to say it – I am a serious TV junky. I love watching television, especially reality TV. Some weeks my television watching schedule is so intense, I barely have time for other activities.

The truth is I’m not sure I want to change.  No seriously, if you, like me find yourself gazing glazed eyes at the television for endless hours a day, you may need some behavior altering advice.

Perhaps setting limitations is the key. Make a schedule. Choose only the shows you really want to watch, make time to watch them and end the activity there. Shows over?  No flicking allowed, except the off button.

Tivo, DVR or any recording technology may also help alleviate the problem. If you record only that which you actually like, you will likely find yourself watching less TV.

And if you watch television out of boredom or inertia, then you may need to plan your leisure time better. Think of activities you like to do and start doing them. When you get home, go out for a walk or pick up a book instead of going straight for the remote.
