Use Crayons to Repair Leather or Vinyl Furniture
Posted at 19:26, 26/09/2008 by LauraWilliams

This is a pretty ingenious idea from one of the readers at Thrifty Fun, and it should work for both leather and vinyl.

  • Get a large box of crayons and find the exact color match.
  • Using a tiny hand held/worked open crayon sharpener—like for an eyebrow or eye liner pencil—shave small thin amounts of crayon to match the size of the hole(s).
  • Put all those shavings between two pieces of wax paper and press them with an iron.
  • Create as many layers of crayons as you’ll need to fill the hole, sealing them together with a new piece of wax paper.
  • Apply your patch to the hole and seal with clear nail polish, overlapping on the edges a bit.
  • Let dry.
  • You will likely need many more shavings for real leather.
