Five Practical Tips to Manage TV Time for Kids
Posted at 19:10, 17/07/2008 by LauraWilliams

If you’re a new parent, forbidding sugar, soda, and TV may sound like a fine idea. After your second you’ll probably change your tune (right when you stop following junior at the park with a fanny pack full of band aids and hand sanitizer).

The key is to introduce smart TV habits young. EzineArticles offers five great ideas, including:

1. Leave the responsibility to kids: Each week a kid is allowed to watch three hours of television. Produce paper tickets of 30 minutes duration and a kid can utilize only one such ticket in a day. They can choose to watch a cartoon show, movie (part of it) or whatever. At the end of the week, if they have any unused tickets, they can exchange it for chocolates and a $2 currency.

2. Happy Hour everyday: When the kids return from school, after changing their clothes and having a snack, there must be a compulsory "happy hour" where the kids should go outdoor and do an activity every day. The activity could be in garden or playground or whatever. Happy hour must be sent outdoors.

3. Sunday/ Saturday is TV-free day: Declare one day as a "television-free" day. You could listen to radio for a day or listen to good music and dance on that day. But, no television or movies.
