Update Firmware for Better GPS Performance
Posted at 17:32, 16/07/2008 by LauraWilliams

According to Information Week, firmware updates can fix system glitches and make your GPS run more smoothly—and some updates add new features, too.

To update your firmware, connect your GPS to your computer with a mini-USB cord and run the update file.

“Garmin has simplified the process with its WebUpdater application, which will check for new updates, or you can go to the Web site for a list of the current firmware version for your model. You can find updates for Magellan devices on its support page, while TomTom updates are now handled through the TomTom HOME application."

*DISCLAIMER: Although I updated my firmware with excellent results, one of my coworkers had a different experience. Be sure to call customer support for your GPS brand so you don't lose anything important on your GPS.
