Dry Out a Damp Bathroom
Posted at 18:22, 02/07/2008 by LauraWilliams

Steamy showers are amazing, but no one wants to walk into a muggy little room that feels like the Amazon with tiles. It could cause mold, mildew, wood warping, and wall paper peeling. HGTV offers a few good suggestions to dry out your damp bathroom.

  • Make sure your exhaust fan is working properly. Put a piece of tissue paper in there while it’s running; the fan should be strong enough to hold the tissue in place.
  • Check the vent discharge outside your home. It needs to be free of obstructions, like birds’ nests and branches.
  • Vacuum the exhaust fans to remove lint and dust for maximum airflow.
  • Consider setting your fan on a timer so it stays on for a while after you shower.
