Clean Your Oven with an Orange
Posted at 21:54, 18/06/2008 by LoriDeschene
Citrus fruits have two excellent uses: garnishing cocktails and cleaning. Since it’s roughly 3:00 PM my time, this tip is not about the former.

Helium writer Nisha Danny explains oranges are the best cleaner for your oven. To make your own orange-based cleaner, you’ll need:

1 orange
1 cup of powdered dried orange peel
1/4 cup of white vinegar
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp baking soda’
A steel wool scrubber

Here’s what you need to do:

Put a baking tray full of orange slices and water into your oven. Heat it and leave it on for about 10 minutes. While the steam is spreading throughout the inside, mix the powdered dried orange peel, baking soda, white vinegar, and salt to make a cleaning paste. When the oven cools down, spread this scrub inside using steel wool. Leave it for 15 minutes and wipe away with a damp cloth and water.
