How to Properly Clean Your LCD Screen
Posted at 18:15, 16/06/2008 by LoriDeschene

LCD screens are everywhere—computer monitors, TVs, PSPs. And they like to get dirty. You can buy a screen cleaner to keep it looking shiny and new, or you can try some of these simple suggestions from geeksaresexy.com.
The author suggests using:
1 part distilled water and 1 part 70% isopropyl alcohol. Do not use rubbing alcohol or tap water as they both will smudge the screen. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe the solution on as opposed to spraying.
Readers suggest using:
Whiteboard cleaner
Eye glass cleaner

You said, "The author suggests using: 1 part distilled water and 1 part 70% isopropyl alcohol. Do not use rubbing alcohol." The rubbing alcohol in my medicine cabinet IS 70% isopropyl alcohol. So you say to use it, then NOT to use it. Do you mean "undiluted" rubbing alcohol? Greg

This may be too late BUT as a Pharmacist I know this. Rubbing Alcohol is the common name for Ethyl Alcohol 70%;;;;ISOpropyl Alcohol 70% is often used for and incorrectly called Rubbing Alcohol because it is cheaper.. Ethyl alcohol is the common alcohol in Beer Wine Whiskey ; in Rubbing alcohol70% many times Methyl alcohol is added to prevent internal consumption AND IS POISONOUS used internally. For screen cleaning use Isopropyl Alcohol as stated.
