Use Onions to Clean Burn Marks off Pans
Posted at 00:01, 15/05/2008 by LoriDeschene

You don’t have to spend all your post-dinner telly time scrubbing pans to keep them looking their best. With a few simple tricks, you can easily remove rust, burn marks, and even discoloration. Grouprecipes.com offers numerous helpful suggestions, including:

If you have a cake pan that is slightly rusted in the corners, scour it with a raw potato dipped in cleanser. Wash, rinse, and dry thoroughly.

To clean out a burned pan, simmer onion skins for an hour. Leave the onion water in overnight. The burned particles will wipe right away the next day.

If an aluminum pan has become discolored, try boiling some water with a few apple peels for several minutes, then rinse dry. It should come out sparkling.
