Use Potato Peels to Heal Your Dog’s Cracked Paws
Posted at 19:14, 14/05/2008 by LauraWilliams

Odds are your dog won’t tell you the hot pavement is doing a number on his paw pads, so you’ll just have to keep an eye on them during the summer months. Lowchensaustralia.com provides a vast range of helpful information for preventing paw damage and addressing it once you see it:

Boil up some potato peels, let the water cool, and immerse the paw in it. The cracked pad will heal in a couple of days.

Smear Vaseline on your dog's wet pads, then dust liberally with baby powder to create a covering on the pad.

You can also use 1 pint of ivy leaves boiled in 2 pints of water. Allow it to cool, and add 1 spoonful of Witch Hazel to every cupful of liquid. Wash the paws with this, then dust them with very fine oatmeal.
