Prevent Your Vacuum from Losing Suction By...
Posted at 05:09, 08/05/2008 by LauraWilliams

You may have laughed when the vacuum salesman offered you a warranty, but you'll likely wish you hadn't if your machine stops sucking and starts collecting dust in your closet.

Your vacuum won't lose suction if you:

  • Empty your vacuum cleaner when the bag or canister gets about three-quarters full. Beyond that, dirt and debris can hinder suction.
  • Inspect your hoses once or twice a year. A hole or slit in a hose can cut suction dramatically.

If you still find your machine losing suction, its one of two things:

  • A drive belt issue
  • An obstruction

Visit eHow for easy fixes to both problems!
