Automatically Crop and Straighten Scanned Photos
Posted at 16:01, 17/04/2008 by Dina323

Often the only way to save old photos that have begun to crumble with age is by scanning and storing them online - unfortunately, the endless process of cropping and straightening often leaves us in worse condition than our pictures. I always feel a little rumpled around the edges just thinking about it.

Luckily, Photoshop has come the rescue. Using Photoshop CS3:

1. Scan photos using your flatbed scanner and import to Photoshop
2. Select->All
3. File->Automate->Crop and Straighten Photos
4. Done

Easy, eh? Click here to see a full description and video.

Photoshop CS3? Like we just have that kind of software lying around the house. We (speaking for myself and others who aren't gifted with expensive software) don't have Photoshop CS3. We use IrfanView and rotate by degrees until it's close to being straight. It's somewhat longer of a process, but doesn't put you into debt, except for time.
