Vacuum Up Red Wine Stains
Posted at 16:01, 17/04/2008 by Dina323

For most of us, the immediate impulse when a glass of wine spills on the carpet is to blot, blot like there's no tomorrow—and when that fails, it's usually time to rearrange the furniture.

For most of us, the immediate impulse when a glass of wine spills on the carpet is to blot, blot like there's no tomorrow—and when that fails, it's usually time to rearrange the furniture.

But for fresh stains, there is hope. According to an Ezine article:

"Next time you have a red wine spill, cover the spot with corn starch [also called cornflour] and push it down in the carpet with your hand or foot to make sure it is all the way down to the bottom of the carpet. Wait for a day or so and then vacuum the corn starch [ahem. cornflour] away."

You should be able to vacuum it up after 24 hours with no adverse effects—and no need to buy another festive floor lamp.
