Epson Stylus Photo 825
Score: 67.7 (expert reviews:2 )

if you want more than just the basics and you like direct printing, the 825 is a head turner. this very capable printer includes a pc card slot as well as adapters for compactflash, memorystick, securedigital, and smartmedia. you can print on continuous-roll 4-inch? and 8.3-inch?wide photo paper with included roll adapters. using the 825's lcd status screen, you can print an index sheet of all the images on a memory card. then select one or a group of images and you can control paper type and size, page layout, quality, and enhancement. like the canon s900, the 825 offers an optional color lcd preview monitor; epson's is $79. in photo quality testing, the 825 had minor resolution and edge problems, but the color was right on. in general-purpose printing, the 825 was one of the slower models, and like the other epson and hp photo printers, the 825 took more time to print photos on glossy photo paper than the canon models. if direct photo printing is appealing, the 825 is an easy way to get lots of media flexibility at reasonable price.
